Would it be a wrong for a professional to reach out for a reference book in times of uncertainty? Read to know more

Would it be a wrong for a professional to reach out for a reference book in times of uncertainty???

Goodday friends, hope you're having a great week! We are grateful for life in all.
Today I want to ask you a very tricky question
Do you think it is proper for a professional to open up a reference book when trying to get a professional opinion from him/her?? Before you respond let me tell you a real life story.
Know when to use a reference book

Mr Ken walked into a pharmacy store, with a prescription having an antibiotic and it's dosage. He hands over the piece of paper to the pharmacist, she then takes a critical look on the prescription, the dosage wasn't quiet clear (the handwriting of some doctors🤔🙄), plus it was a pediatric dose (needed reconstitution), so she reached out for her reference book.

Mr Ken immediately said, "sister! Are you a nurse or a sales girl? Don't you understand this thing?? Mtcheww" (very rude somebody like this! If it's me ehn I wee reply him oh! No shame!) but her response wasn't rude at all, she said "sir, this is a life issue, I know many drugs and many doses but I don't know all! I have to confirm when I'm not sure, I really want to sell these drugs but more than that I want to do my duty to humanity, I don't want my greed or pride to cost someone's life! The man was just calm, he then said "I'm really sorry ma'am, please confirm and let me know"
Well, this is my story, so you do well to judge (with sense oh!).
Thanks
