Would it be wrong for an older person to greet the younger fellow??

YARN'D'YARN
Good morning pharmily! It's Friday!! And we need to turnUp! And pharm_tales turns up with
*Let's yarn d' yarn*!
Would it be wrong for an older person to greet the younger fellow?

Our today's yarn is about a recent trend that has become a culture amongst Nigerians (almost a law) and it is centered on 'GREETINGS AND  SALUTATIONS'.
This our time has certainly lost etiquette in relating to each other. It is even worse in Nigeria as our own problem is either 'we too do or we dey totally wrong'

Now, there is this notion in Nigeria that as an older person, it is an 'ARU!!!' (abomination) to greet/salute a younger person with a good morning/afternoon/evening/night. I feel this a wrong notion: anyone can greet anyone regardless of age, size, status, etc. It is not a crime to greet a younger person in my book. But it is also very foolish that a young person would wait to be greeted by an older person (get enough sense😏🙄!). A typical example showing both scenarios would be:

Scene1: your boss is way younger than you are, but he is your boss! So whenever you sight him you greet/salute adding a sir/ma

Scene2: your employee is way older than you are, you know it and you have sense, you don't wait for him to greet you!

In both cases, no one is being looked down on,  greeting doesn't remove prestige or add respect. Humbly relate to people with love! Thanks much! Let's party next Friday 😘😘

  1. I'm a supervisor where I work and have older people working under me, I greet em first regardless they too sometimes. It causes them to respect and accept even more.

  2. It's just a culture in some places to greet older people, but sometimes when a younger person waits to be greeted, it's somehow disrespectful. Not to say that I don't fall in this category some sad times sha
