The Beecham Saga in Nigeria
The image above shows the former Beecham logo, it's was founded by Thomas Beecham, a renowned druggist (pharmacist as it is called now).
Well, Pharmacists in Nigeria, often hear this phrase, "Give me beecham" and I'm tired of hearing this! So let me cry out a little! It's not like I like crying oh... But I'm tired!!
Now, BEECHAM! Is a pharmaceutical company name, I mean, they produce the drugs, I can't have a whole company on my shelf. It is also important to note that they merged with "Smithkline", to form the popular GlaxoSmithKline (GSK). They do the popular Ampiclox and Amoxil amongst so many other drugs. Most often we (pharmacists) hear give me beecham and we wonder; is it Amoxil or ampiclox this person wants?? That's the challenge. When you eventually bring the GSK ampiclox, you hear, 'this is not beecham, there is no beecham written on it, I need beecham'. It's high time we clear the air. If you are given GSK, take it as beecham. (reasons above)

Another cry I want to make🤧! Please please please! AMPICLOX is meant to be taken; 1tablet every 6hours. That means, you take 4 in 24hours(one day). The rate of abuse for this this drug is alarming! People even use it to "flush" system after sex! Wawu! Oshee! Flushers!
The other day, a patient told me he takes one daily just to prevent STD's. My guy! How now? Who advised you?
