RED WINE: A HEART REMEDY
Red wine is a type of wine made from dark-colored (black) grape varieties. The actual color of the wine can range from intense violet, typical of young wines, through to brick red for mature wines and brown for older red wines.
The juice from most purple grapes is greenish-white; the red color comes from anthocyan pigments (also called anthocyanins) present in the skin of the grape; exceptions are the relatively uncommon teinturier varieties, which produce a red colored juice.

Health Benefits of drinking Red wine
The health effects of wine are mainly determined by its active ingredient alcohol
However, they are also said to have antioxidants which are responsible for protecting the blood vessels of the heart, these antioxidants are known as Polyphenols and the most popular of them all is RESVERATEROL. Resveratrol might be a key ingredient in red wine that helps prevent damage to blood vessels, reduces low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol (the "bad" cholesterol) and prevents blood clots. Some research shows that resveratrol could be linked to a lower risk of inflammation and blood clotting, which can lead to heart disease.
How does alcohol help the heart
Alcohol helps the heart by;
•Raises HDL (healthy) cholesterol
•Reduces the formation of blood clots
•Helps prevent artery damage caused by high levels of LDL (harmful) cholesterol
•May improve the function of the layer of cells that line your blood vessels (endothelium)
What is the Recommended daily intake of alcohol/redwine
